Lauren O'Brien earned her Bachelor of the Art's degree in Anthropology, with a minor in English, from Tulane University in 2007. She began working towards her PhD at Southern Methodist University in 2008. She is interested in looking at prehistoric ceramics in the Southwestern United States. She has excavated Roman military camps in Spain and historical sites in Taos, New Mexico through SMU.
